We design how a space flows, functions, and feels, from the first spatial decisions through to lighting, materials, furniture, and the finishing details that complete it.
KEMPA Design is a full-service interior architecture and design firm based in Grand Cayman, working with private clients, developers, and hospitality owners across the Caribbean, USA, and beyond.
We design the way a space flows, functions, and feels. Spatial plans, drawings, lighting, materials, furniture, and the finishing details that complete a project. We are most valuable when brought in early, working alongside architects, contractors, developers, and trades to shape decisions before they become expensive to undo.
Let’s build something extraordinary together.

FAQs
A few answers to the questions we get most often. About how we work, what we charge, where we work, and how to get started.
1. What does KEMPA Design actually do?
KEMPA Design is a full-service interior design firm based in Grand Cayman. We design the full interior experience — spatial planning, drawings, lighting, materials, cabinetry, furniture, and the finishing details that complete a space. We work across new builds, renovations, developments, commercial fit-outs, hospitality projects, and furniture and finishing packages.
2. Where do you take on projects?
We’re based in Grand Cayman and work across the Cayman Islands, the wider Caribbean, the USA and more. Recent and current projects include work connected to Toronto, London, and the Bahamas. Wherever the project is, we lead the design from our Cayman studio and coordinate closely with local trades and contractors on the ground.
3. How is interior design different from interior architecture?
Interior design is often associated with finishes and decoration, colours, furniture, and styling. Interior architecture deals with how a space is actually planned: how rooms flow, where walls sit, how light moves, and where the kitchen really needs to go. KEMPA Design works across both. We start with the architecture, then layer the design on top, which is what allows a finished space to look beautiful and perform.
4. When in my project should I bring you in?
As early as possible. The biggest value KEMPA Design brings is at the planning stage. Before walls go up, before the contractor is locked in, before decisions become expensive to undo. If you’re building, renovating, or developing, the ideal time to bring us in is alongside (or shortly after) your architect. That said, we also take on projects already underway and furniture-and-finishing packages where the build is complete.
5. What does the process look like?
Every project follows the same considered path, from discovery and complimentary consultation, through concept and spatial planning, design development, construction coordination, installation, and after-care. You can read the full 8-step process on our About page, but the short version is: a calm, guided experience from first conversation to finished space, with the same team carrying the project through end to end.
6. How long does a typical project take?
It varies considerably. A furniture and finishing package might take 8 – 12 weeks from concept to install. A full renovation typically runs 9 – 18 months from first conversation to handover, depending on scope and permitting. A ground-up new build or development can span two years or more. We’ll give you a realistic timeline based on your specific project during the discovery stage, not a generic estimate.
7. How do you charge?
We use a transparent fee structure tailored to each project. Smaller scopes (furniture packages, floor plans, single-room redesigns) are typically fixed-fee. Larger projects (renovations, new builds, developments) are scoped individually based on the work involved. After your discovery consultation, you’ll receive a clear proposal covering scope, deliverables, timeline, and fees, so you know exactly what you’re signing up for before anything begins.
8. Do I need to be in the Cayman Islands to work with you?
No, many of our clients are international, purchasing property in Cayman or the Caribbean, building a second home, or developing for the rental market. We work remotely with clients across the Caribbean, London, the USA, and beyond, with regular video reviews, detailed renderings, and on-the-ground coordination so you don’t have to be present. We’ll be there for the install so you can walk into a finished space.
9. How do I start a project with KEMPA?
The first step is a project inquiry. Share the basics, such as project type, location, approximate budget, timeline, and your vision, and we’ll review the fit. If it’s a match, we’ll set up a complimentary discovery consultation either at our Camana Bay studio or virtually. From there, you’ll receive a proposal covering scope, process, deliverables, and fees, and we’ll guide you through every step that follows.
