Residential renovation · Grand Cayman
A complete condo renovation at Seven Mile Beach, designed to match the address.
The client purchased the condo intending to bring it fully up to the standard of the building. Not a refresh. A full renovation, top to bottom.
KEMPA Design was brought in to lead the transformation: new kitchen, both bathrooms, new flooring throughout, custom lighting design, ceiling detail work in the primary spaces, a reimagined den, new closet systems, complete FF&E, and every finish considered from scratch. The brief called for something calm and confident, a home that reads as refined without shouting about it.
The design language is warm, layered, and deliberately understated. Soft neutrals, timber, deep tonal accents, and layered lighting throughout. The kind of interior that photographs quietly in the daytime and glows in the evening.

“The address had already set the expectation. Our job was to make sure the interior lived up to it, quietly, and without a single wrong note.”
01
Living & dining
An open-plan volume anchored by a gallery wall, a curved bouclé sofa, and a dining table designed for long evenings.
The living room was rebuilt around a soft neutral palette, a curved bouclé sofa and swivel lounge chairs, a sculptural dark-timber coffee table, layered floor lamps, and a considered gallery wall of coastal photography that acts as the visual anchor of the space.
Ceiling detail options were developed for the living area to add subtle architectural interest overhead, and full-height stationary drapery frames the ocean side of the room while roller shades handle the practical light control.
A sculptural spiral staircase rises to the owners lounge on the second floor, referencing the arrival sequence found in the highest tier of hospitality properties. The managers’ office and back-of-house were reconfigured to expand operational capacity and add proper storage for bellhop services and luggage carts, practical improvements that quietly elevate the day-to-day experience.
Anchoring the far side of the open plan, a dark-timber dining table sits beneath a linear brass-and-glass rod chandelier, a single considered piece that gives the space a strong sense of hierarchy without dominating it.
Sculptural bouclé dining chairs continue the material story from the living area, and a slim media console tucks against the wall to keep the kitchen sightline uninterrupted.
02
The den
The design question was what to do with the small room across from the kitchen.
The answer was to give it its own architecture.
Framed metal-and-glass sliding doors give the den a distinct architectural moment while keeping it visually connected to the rest of the home. Closed, it’s a quiet reading room or a private call space; open, it flows back into the main circulation as an extension of the living plan.
Inside, a linen sofa, a dark timber sideboard, a considered gallery pair, and a slim brass-and-marble coffee table sit on a woven natural rug. Everything is scaled deliberately for the smaller footprint, nothing feels forced, nothing feels leftover.
03
The primary suite
Oceanfront. A window bench for morning coffee.
A room that looks out to the water and gets out of its own way.
The primary bedroom sits directly on the water. Everything about it is designed to defer to the viewm, a soft leather upholstered headboard, tonal art panels, warm timber nightstands, and a low-profile bed that keeps sightlines open to the window and out to the ocean beyond.
A built-in bench with a cushioned seat wraps the window nook, a genuine second seating moment inside the bedroom, for the reading, the coffee, or the quiet ten minutes before the day begins. Full-height stationary drapery softens the perimeter, with roller shades tucked inside the reveal.
The primary bathroom was fully redesigned as part of the scope. New layout, larger vanities, a larger walk-in shower behind frameless glass, and a freestanding tub replacing the original bath. Closet systems were added throughout the suite.
04
The guest bedrooms
Two guest bedrooms, sharing a material language, but each with its own atmosphere.
The first guest bedroom carries a warm tonal palette, a fluted upholstered headboard in a soft camel, layered bedding, a stone-cut abstract artwork above the bed, and full-height drapery framing the palm-tree outlook.
Ambient bedside lamps and layered task lighting keep the room comfortable at any hour without overpowering the mood.
Grounded by darker timber.
The second guest bedroom shifts the palette down a note, a taller cream upholstered headboard with a black timber frame, dark bolster cushions, a black nightstand, and a matching black dresser at the foot of the bed. The result is a room that feels a touch more formal without losing warmth.
Both guest bedrooms share the same closet system upgrades and the same finish package as the primary, no compromise between “master suite” and “guest room.”
