New build interior design, from the ground up.

KEMPA Design works with homeowners from the earliest concept stages of a new build, whether you’re building on raw land, redeveloping an existing site, or demolishing and starting fresh. These projects are deeply collaborative: working alongside your architect, consultants, and contractor team from day one to make sure the home feels cohesive, functional, and thoughtfully designed at every level.

The focus isn’t just on building a beautiful house. It’s on designing a home that supports your lifestyle, routines, and long-term needs — from spatial plans through to the finishing details.

How we work

Three principles that shape every new build project we take on, and that protect both the design vision and the developer’s margin.

What KEMPA Design includes

A new build is the most collaborative kind of project KEMPA Design takes on. Working alongside your architect, structural engineer, MEP consultants, landscape designer, and contractor from concept onwards, we develop the full interior story, spatial planning, drawings, custom millwork, finishes, lighting, and FF&E, and stay involved all the way through construction and final styling. The list below covers what’s typically included on a full new-build engagement.

Common questions

Do you work with my chosen architect?

Yes. We collaborate closely with the architect of your choice from concept onward. KEMPA Design’s scope is the interior architecture, design, and finishes — the architect handles the building envelope and structural design.

Yes. We’re often brought in at the very earliest stage and help shape what the project should be before architectural appointments are made. This can include site assessments, brief development, and architectural firm recommendations.

Ideally before construction documentation is finalised. The earlier we’re brought in, the more value we add — there’s no upper limit to “too early.”

We produce the interior construction drawings, floor plans, finish plans, RCPs, elevations, millwork drawings. The architect produces the building shell and structural documentation. We coordinate the two sets to ensure design intent is preserved through to the build.

Yes, most of our new build clients carry the project through with us to final install, including all furniture, lighting, accessories, and styling.
